Remember my post last week, about not telling everything to the world via social media?
Seems like something is in the air. Several of you commented that you want to try to step back a bit from social media as well. Tomorrow if Friday, friends! I’m going to be fasting from Facebook all day, probably not blogging, and only on Pinterest or Instagram to support Blessed Is She.
Elizabeth Foss posted a beautiful and inspiring photo on Instagram today. Go look at it, because it’s summery and lovely and peaceful.
Her idea is simple and brilliant. #createspace
#createspace is about logging out and shutting down for some amount of time so you can create space in your life for what really matters. It’s why I’m shutting down on Fridays, and most mornings. I’ll be making room in my schedule, creating space, for working out, walking and hiking with the kids, reading more, praying more. I’m creating space to create real things with my hands, like my quilt, good food for my family, and bunk beds for dolls. I’m leaving the time- and energy-suck of social media so I can refresh, rest, and refocus on the best things. To help me make this a habit, every day I hope to wake up with my alarm, and begin in silence and prayer. It’s true, I might pick up my phone or tablet to read the daily Mass readings or pray morning prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours (but I do have a real book for the Liturgy of the Hours–I need to find the right place to begin, though!), but I won’t check any notifications of email, instant messages, or Facebook. Every morning will start with the most important thing: prayer and time with our God.
Join us! Any time is a good time to begin, and #createspace in your life for what your heart craves.
