Linking up with Jenna, because it’s been awhile and this is one of the link-ups I’ve love the most.
Thinking about: Oodles of things. Keeping myself on track with my health, for one. You remember my fitness series? And my honest post about how well I didn’t do in August? Well, I’m here (sweaty), thinking how good it was to wake up this morning and spend 20 minutes with silence, some dumbbells, and a workout found on Pinterest. Also, I will be intentional about planning some afternoon dance parties with the kids. AND!! This weekend, the whole family kicked butt in a fun-run at our parish. It was awesome. Even our least-active kiddo told us he had fun on the run. Total win!! It was great. Our oldest, Chickadee, placed 3rd in the girls’ group, and while no one else “placed”, I ran my best 5K in 32:24. That’s a whole 2 minutes faster than I ran last year!
Another thing on my mind: music lessons for the kids. I played piano for years, so I *could* give them a decent introduction…but do I want to? Is that best? What if they don’t want to play? What do you do in your family? Do you just encourage your kids to try an instrument, or is it something everyone needs to try for at least a year and then you reevaluate? Help me with this.
Reading: School has started, yo. The girls and I are about to dive back in to Harry Potter and study it with a Brave Writer “Arrow” guide. Also, since this week is the anniversary of 9-11, we’re going to be reading a few books that help the kids learn about this tragic and important day in our history.
Reading for me this week is going to include the e-books in the amazing Ultimate Health Bundle. You’re going to want to check that out. Clearly, I’m excited about this since I’m really trying to be —intentional— about my health, fitness, and smarter living.
There are books about essential oils, fitness with your family (can’t WAIT to get more ideas from that one!), gardening and homesteading, meal planning, meal budgeting, natural beauty (also can’t wait for this one!), healthy children, and more! The covers above are a tiny sample of the e-books I am really excited to read and learn with. (**yes, I am an affiliate with the bundle. Please consider supporting me with this–the deal won’t last long and you get SO SO many great books about healthy living, bonuses , and when you support me, I’ll be able to offer more towards Cameron and his hope to have a diabetic guide dog. Thanks!!**)
Also reading the new daily devotions at Blessed Is She. Have you joined us yet? It is a beautiful thing to know so many women are reading the same Scriptures daily, and to have a lovely reflection with them. God is at work in this. Please join us.
Listening to: I could use some new tunes. What are you faves right now? And, since it’s school time, we’ll be turning on the classics again, listening to Brahms, Strauss, and more. I like having music on at certain points during the day, for the calming effect (also sometimes energizing!), and for an introduction to different composers and types of music. This term, we’ll be listening to classic composers.
Thankful for: Cooler fall days, happy children’s voices, all the bloggers spreading the word about Cameron (praying for more donations!), the amazing time we had at the run, a fresh start every morning.
