Most days, my brain has about 1,000 more ideas than I will ever be able to accomplish. Some are things like “dust the stair rails and frames” or “check menu plan for dinner tomorrow”. Some are “sort through kids’ old clothes” and “just get rid of that pile of stuff already”. Others are “sew a block for the quilt”, “check on wicks for the candles you’ve been meaning to make for about 5 years”, “plan crafts and snacks for upcoming holidays and saints’ days”, etc. Already you can see that I’m overly ambitious. I mean, dust the photo frames?! Yeah, right.
Truth be told, I love a creative break in my day. It often is what helps me re-set when I’m about to lose my marbles and lock myself up in the bathroom. Even 5 minutes stolen away at the sewing machine while I piece together a few blocks,
or a few minutes with some photo editing and a blog for my family (sorry, guys, I know I owe you one or twelve with pics of the kids), or something along those lines, can really alter my mood for the better.
And, I can’t resist a DIY. Last week, I made some hard perfume, with beeswax, almond oil, and essential oils.
I have 5 pounds of wax in the closet, waiting for me to find the wicks I’m sure I ordered so the kids and I can make some candles. There are kits in the closet, also, waiting for warmer weather so we can make more garden stepping stones. I just can’t help it. I love dabbling.
