The other night, I was standing in the bathroom, holding the toddler and supervising my 5 year old with brushing his teeth. I was struck by everyday-ness of it, the mundane-ness of it, the necessity of it. Things like this largely make up my day.
Carrying a toddler.
Helping any one of the kids, brush teeth, brush hair, tie shoes (a skill we are slowly learning with the boys), figure out a math problem, fold laundry.
Answering 85 questions in half an hour.
Cooking. Cleaning. Shopping.
Doing the above with all the kids.
Teaching them to cook and clean.
It sure is necessary, because no one else is going to raise our family!
It sure can feel tedious.
But isn’t it lovely?
I mean, these kids are little people with souls and creative (sometimes weird) minds, with joy and spunk, with a purpose…and God chose me to be their mother and be with them nearly 24/7, doing all these things, to raise them up in a loving, happy home.
Kinda blows my mind, and humbles me.
So with all these thoughts, I snapped a pic. A bathroom mirror selfie. I know, such a mess. But, it is reality. It is a moment of my mothering, captured. It is me doing what I do, as well as I can, to give glory to Him who gifted my husband and I with this family.
A few times a month, I am going to snap more of these candid moments, and share some of them. Join me, if you like. It is #projecteverydaymotherhood. Embrace it. Live it. Love being a mother, even in the mundane.
