Thinking about:

All the things! We have been on summer break since the beginning of the month, and my head is still swirling and the to-do list isn’t getting any shorter. This is not good for my simplicity-seeking soul. So…I am working on getting back to the basics, focusing on one–yes, one–thing at a time (so hard for most mothers, and really hard for me. I am fairly scattered typically.), and getting that task done before I move on and hyperventilate about all the things left to do.

So what is there to do? I’m working on the new site (do you like it so far? Bear with me while I get it settled and imperfectly perfect. I’m bound to find a theme I like better than this before all is said and done). My wonderful sister-in-law and my nieces are visiting. My 2nd daughter is turning 8 this week, and we are celebrating with a Frozen party, like half of all American girls are doing this year. One of these days I’m going to set myself down in the dining room, spread out all the books, have some chai tea, and let the kids watch movies while I plan our 2014-2015 school year.

Reading:

I finished a book! Last week I finished “Wonder”, which is a great read. I highly recommend it, especially for 4th graders and up. It’s a moving read about a boy who overcomes social stigma, due to facial abnormalities, to not only make friends in a new school, but change the lives and hearts of dozens in the process.

Now I’m reading “Something Other Than God”, which is calling my name at this very moment!

Listening to:

Not much. I’m actually considering downloading some good movie music for the summer, and get the kids up and dancing like we used to so many years ago! I’m disappointed that the CD I burned before our road trip only played one song. Yes, I burned a CD. I’m old-school like that. Yes, I’m also challenged and don’t know how to make my iTunes songs play on anything but the Mac. Sigh. Before. Any good music suggestions? No country, it’s not my thing.

Watching:

Nothing. It’s been a long while since I sat down at night to even flip through the 7 channels we get (no cable for us!). However, I’m thinking that one of these days I’m going to get the Amazon Prime streaming set up and watch some good British shows–Doctor Who, or Downton Abbey, or Call the Midwife.

Thankful for:

So much! My super husband, our safe trip last week, the lovely weather here, our hike and family time yesterday.

Wishing:

I’m just hopeful I don’t overwhelm myself with fun party plans for my kiddos–one birthday this week, and then Firecracker’s first birthday on the 4th of July…plus all the in-between summer goals (read-alouds, walks, library visits…) And of course, I’m wishing for some time to just relax! 😉

  1. It’s so hard to just do one thing at a time isn’t it? Ahhh…I have so many projects started right now. I’m trying to get some completed this week.
Stopping by from the Currently link up. Have a great week!

    1. Good luck getting your projects done! I *currently* need to go make some birthday banners… Hope you also have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Rhonda! I hope I have more time tonight to read! It’s been very enjoyable so far.

  2. I admire that you focus on one thing at a time on your to-do lists. That’s really the only way to be productive! We don’t have cable either, and I’ve never had a desire for it. The books sound really interesting; I’m putting them on my list. Have a great weekend!

    1. If only I could actually focus on one thing at a time… 😉 I am working on it, anyway. Let me know if you enjoy the books once you get to them!
