Embrace the Ordinary vol. 12

“…there is something holy, something divine hidden in the most ordinary situations, and it is up to each one of you to discover it.”  St. Josemaria Escriva, Passionately Loving the World

Well, I missed getting my post and link-up ready yesterday! I’ve been struggling, to be honest, with preparing things in advance. That is something I know I need to work on, and know it will pay off. But here I am, a day+ late, but I am going to have the link-up open for a few extra days if anyone wants to join up! I’m inspired this week by the lovely Amanda, who never disappoints with expressing how lovely and beautiful her ordinary days are, with two sweet boys and a loving husband. Amanda, thanks for keeping our little corner of the web going this week!

I have been spending hours and hours literally embracing ordinary moments with Firecracker. He has quite the personality, and is bursting with energy 20 hours of the day. <ok, slight exaggeration. He does sleep for more than 4 hours, but not consecutively and not without lots of snuggles and nursing. If I had my way, he’d be weaned already. But, as life is what it is, I don’t have my way. We’re going about weaning slowly for now. Some days we don’t nurse more than once before bedtime, and other days Firecracker is in my lap as often as he can manage…and then he’ll be up several times in the night for more nursing.

It’s wearing on me. I love nursing, but I also feel touched-out. Time to set a goal of weaning, I think. Maybe by February.

He is a cutie, though, isn’t he? It’s why I can’t help but kiss those cheeks any chance I get. They’re only squishy for such a short time!

  1. Gina, you are the sweetest! Those are the nicest words! Thank you! And, your Firecracker sounds like my Eli. Seriously. I feel ya! Night-nurser, personality for days (and nights), energy for 20+ hours (given night-nursing and his lovely scream tantrums – how does he do it??). Prayers for us and embracing our little fireballs that require so much of our heart and energy! 🙂
