Happy Feast of the Holy Family! {printable prayer for children}

| |

By the time Christmas day comes to a close, I pretty much mentally check-out for a few weeks and barely get through any other celebrations. In the last 6 weeks (this year), we’ve had about 9 full celebrations. It’s no wonder that I just don’t think much about the remaining feasts and day of Christmas. I’m done.

BUT! This year, I have Sarah to thank for her sweet list of *easy* ways to continue celebrating the many days of Christmas. She included a blessing for children on today’s feast of the Holy Family (what a great feast!!! Celebrate the Holy Family and pray for your family to better imitate them! I think we’ll finish off my birthday cake today as a special treat). I spent my morning with coffee and a cranky baby who refuses to wean or sleep through the night, designing a beautiful printable for you. This blessing can be prayed over your children any day.

  1. Love this! Praying for you and Firecracker as I nurse my Eli who just threw a fit because I didn’t let him nurse long enough after his nap. He apologized for the fit and politely asked to nurse. Lord help me.

  2. “Innocence and simplicity. Our Lord sees in children traits and attitudes that are essential in anyone if he is to gain heaven, and, even in this life, if he is to enter the kingdom of faith. A child is devoid even of the slightest feeling of self-sufficiency. It is in constant need of its parents, and knows it. A child is fundamentally a being in need, and this is what a Christian should be before his Father God, a being in total need. A child lives fully in the present and nothing more. The adult’s less admirable predisposition is to look restlessly to the future, ignoring the here and now, the present moment, which ought to be lived to the full.”

    Gina, one of my sisters sent me this, in response to one of my many little comments on my littlest one’s dependency and urgent need of me, it seems 23 and a half hours out of the day. I have been mulling this passage over for over a week, and many thoughts keep coming to my mind, albeit mostly foggy ones, which I need to ponder on to clear the mist. One thought that keeps coming back to me, is trying to learn how to be more like her, who’s face is searching for mine, and who’s arms are clinging desperately to my legs. Looking down at her little begging face is a reminder for me now, that I need to be running to God. I wish I could need him as much as she needs me. In any case, reading about your little one’s needs reminded me of my little Mary.

  3. Oh so pretty!! Thanks!
    I’m really trying to keep up the Christmas celebrations through the 12 days: I love being Catholic and celebrating Christmas for so long! ๐Ÿ™‚
