“Our Family’s Jesse Tree” {e-book Review}

|

One of my crafty Catholic blogger friends just released a brilliant e-book, “Our Family’s Jesse Tree”. I have the privilege of reviewing it, and sharing my thoughts with you! Read through the end for details on how you can win a copy for yourself! (I received a copy of this book for personal use and review. All opinions are my own. I think this e-book is a fabulous resource!)

Jen and I “met” virtually through a Catholic women’s blog support group. We soon hit it off as blogging friends when we realized that we each enjoyed crafting and quilting and sharing our faith, sometimes all at once. You’ll find her beautiful and clever ideas at Faith and Fabric and Instagram. When I found out she was in the process of writing and releasing this new e-book, I couldn’t wait to see what she had in store.

“Our Family’s Jesse Tree” is so much more than a DIY craft e-book. In addition to the 25 darling templates to create your own Jesse Tree ornaments, “Our Family’s Jesse Tree” is a book that your family can come back to each Advent, with activities, Bible readings, reflections, and prayers for each day of December (*note: many Jesse Trees go longer than 25 days. That is to cover all the days of Advent, which often begins a few days before December. This plan is for the 25 days of December.) I love having the activities, readings, and prayers to coordinate with each ornament at my finger tips. As soon as we’ve finished making each ornament, I plan to bind the remaining pages of activities, readings, and prayers for future use. (*a simple idea for this is to use one of the folders you can buy in school supply aisles that has the 3-prongs in the middle)

The ornaments in this book are so darling. I love the original stuffed felt design, which I did with my daughter for a few of the days.

But what I really love about Jen’s designs and how she created them for this book, is that they can be made in so many ways. The ornaments’ pieces can be cut and then traced on felt or paper, then assembled. Or, there or black and white images which can be colored and then cut out to be hung, like one my son did.

He loved doing this. I might print these pages again for all my boys to do through Advent. Or, the color images for each day can even be cut out and used as the ornament, for a quick and easy set of ornaments. Choose to suit your level of craftiness or time available, and enjoy them! This e-book is great for any family, no matter how crafty. There is so reason all of you who tell me, “but I’m not crafty!” can’t use this book. THIS IS FOR YOU, TOO.
