Prayers for a New School Year

| |

Let’s be honest and get to the point: I’m a crazed mess getting ready for this school year. Two kids still homeschooled and attending a one-day a week program (complete with real homework and grades! I can’t begin to describe how excited I am about this program, which is classical and lines up *perfectly* with what we do at home), two kids in a charter school (classical style education!), uniforms for all, baby on the way… Oh, also, coordinating our parish homeschool religious ed program with another homeschool mom. Could I be crazier? Yes, I could, but let’s not go there. I’m sure I’ll hit that point soon enough. For now, I have enough to deal with.

My printer died yesterday.

School supplies still need labeling for my boys.

Our homeschool lessons for the first week still need planning.

At least the uniforms are all ironed and ready!

Last week’s trial-run of waking early, being dressed, and eating breakfast by “go-time” failed. Every.single.day. Maybe that means that this week we’ll be doing great and I won’t be a nagging crazy lady getting us out the door on time? Maybe?

It dawned on, while prepping for the religious ed meeting I have, that I need prayer to start this year, and every day following, to make this a successful year.

I did a quick search and found these prayers, from a book of Catholic blessings for households. They are perfect, don’t you agree? Go ahead and click here to download yours to print. Pray with your family as your year begins. Pray as a new week begins. Keep them handy to pray throughout the year. I have a feeling I may pray these often enough to memorize them, along with my favorite quick prayer, “God, come to my assistance!” I figure, God gave us these amazing people to raise, He’ll surely be by my side in an instant when I call for help in the hard moments! School days definitely can be hard, but I have a hopeful and excited outlook for the year.

I’ll be kicking off 2015-2016 in the morning, praying these with and for our family, while making sure everyone eats breakfast!
