The Best of 2017

Even slow blogging years have highlights, and perhaps taking a peek at mine will help the creative writing juices to flow freely again. I have posts ready to publish for next year, so if you’re a runner and like Saint Paul, some posts will appeal to you. Or, if you’re a busy mom trying to fit a few minutes of prayer into the day, I have a thought or two about that as well. If you’re happy to read meandering thoughts about nothing in particular, and enjoy photos sprinkled throughout, we’ll be great friends.

palm trees are my favorite

And now, 2017 in review! These aren’t just the top-viewed posts, because some of those were product promotions for Blessed Is She (which there will be more of, because you know I’m a fan-girl of Blessed Is She and I can’t help myself from talking about the great things the ministry offers women to grow in their daily faith). These are some of the top-read posts, as well as my favorites. I’d love to know what you enjoyed most this year, so please do comment!

When the Tears Don’t Stop:   a post about how hard times kept me from sharing here, and what I learned about God’s call to service. “When the tears don’t stop, God calls me over and over again to continue serving in love and with humility. He calls me to draw near to Him and rely on Him, to meet the needs of my family fueled by His love and grace, to know Him in the joys and struggles and crosses of each day.”

Ten Virtues of Mary: Divine Purity is a post from 2014, but had a lot of hits this year! It was part of a series with other bloggers, and worth revisiting.

5 Simple Ways to Pray for Your Children “Some days, I feel fairly confident that the Holy Spirit is filling my mind and heart with beautiful words to pray for my children. Then there are the times that I’m at loss, except I know my sweet offspring certainly need my prayers. I’m often left with a desperate “Lord, help her/him” or at best, a full decade of the Rosary.”

Thoughts on Sugar Skulls, Syrach, and Weird Catholic Things This one spurred several great comments and discussion! I enjoyed it, and learned about more cultural and Catholic things in the process.

One Moment At A Time shares my thoughts about loving others and changing the world even if we can’t all be in a traditional sort of mission field. “Love shared in our homes and in our communities will spread. When we each begin to serve more, forgive more, love more, we will see change happen. Let’s begin.”

Prayers for the School Year is worth revisiting as a new semester begins! I included a few printables with prayer intentions to focus our offerings for our children each day. “I’m praying my kids are encouraging to their friends and peers. I’m praying that each day, God’s graces renew us all, and that we face challenges with courage.”

And most recently, I posted about running. “Maybe…my brain was just a bit “off” from lack of oxygen, but I decided to run. Willingly. Around the track. For a mile. On purpose.” Find more of that in That One Time I Ran A Mile.

One of my favorite pages from the calendar

This year I focused in on my shop more than my blog, but in 2018 I hope to balance that out a bit more. Right now you can find a downloadable and printable 2018 Scripture Coloring Calendar , more saint litanies designed with a modern poster style, and more of the favorites like quotes from Saint Teresa of Calcutta.

What have you enjoyed? Let me know. I’m excited to be around this space a bit more often, and with more photos. You know I love photos.
